News
I've updated the site a little. I added links in the Links menu item in the side bar -->
These links will take you to my Smashwords.com profile and the Etsy store that houses my mom and my stained glass work.
I'm currently working on creating an Etsy page for my paintings because it seems easier to manage and hopefully will generate more traffic. I'll post the link here when I get it ready to go.
Nomad on Smashwords!
I've just recently set up my collection of poetry, Nomad, as an e-book available on Smashwords.com. It is available in several different digital formats and offers a free preview!
Goings On!
Casey and I finished our Google Developers Challenge (GDC) application and uploaded it. Actually, the first round of rating has finished. The GDC has several categories and they pick winners in each category, which is what just happened, then they put all the winners from each category together and have a best-in-show-type judging. We don't know yet how we did in the first round or if we're moving on to the second, but we're hopeful.
Nomad on Android
Casey and I have turned Nomad into an e-book on the Android Market!
If you're viewing this page on an Android device you can click here to go directly to the app.
Otherwise you can just search Nomad or Corey Borders in the Market and it'll come up.
More Projects
Casey and I are currently working on a Google Android application that we are both super excited about! I'll post more details and a link when we finish it and get it beta tested. So if you have a G1, or are going to buy one of the new Android phones that are coming out soon keep your eyes peeled here for more info!
Also, having been thoroughly thwarted by the iPhone app thing (see my previous blog post for all the gritty details), Casey suggested that since we're creating an Android app and he's already made another really popular Android app called Geocacher, why not convert my poetry collection into one and say *ttttpppp* to the iPhone for right now?
I thought that was an awesome idea, so we're going to get started on that as soon as we get our current project sent out for testing! Woot woot!
Ahhhh... Projects
I'm thinking about setting up a separate store where you can buy print-to-order t-shirts. I'm considering doing some with paintings on the front and my URL on the back and others with exerpts from my poetry on the front with the URL on the back.
What do you guys think? Leave me your feedback in comments and let me know if you'd be interested in that.
I've also been working with Casey on developing an Android application for Google's developers' challenge. I'm pretty happy with what we have so far! Natasha came up with a cool idea, and Casey and I are doing some interesting design stuff! Hopefully we have a shot at winning this thing!
Sales! Soldes! Rebajado! Ausverkauf!
The first 10 people to buy a copy of my poetry collection Nomad will receive limited-edition, signed copies!
The first 10 people to buy an e-book and give me their e-mail address will receive two unpublished poems!
Success and Spectacular Failure
So, I’ve had some luck lately, both good and bad. Going in reverse alphabetical order,
Good:
Casey and I had been banging our heads against the wall for almost three weeks trying to figure out why you couldn’t purchase and download the PDF e-books of my short stories from my website. We downloaded different modules and used third-party carts that were supposed to integrate with Google Checkout and nothing. Nada. Zilch. Turns out that it was all caused by a typo in the admin portion of my site. After yet another long day of driving ourselves crazy I just happened to stumble across the typo, fixed it and now everything works like a dream. One of those good dreams where you wake up with a smile and hear the birds singing, not like the ones where you accidentally show up to your grandmother’s 60th birthday party naked.
Introduction
I've organized this site into two rough categories. The first one is information (blog, bio, etc.), the second is art. Art is further divided into visual and literary arts for ease of browsing, although I find that the two are more dependant on one another and symbiotic than they might seem at first.
